1960’s
Henderson Aquatics was founded by business partners Everett Edmund and Patrick Madison. Both men had also been partners in the marine industry. Shortly after World War II the US Navy concluded it no longer required diving service and sold off its entire inventory of Mark V diving suits to Edmund and Madison as surplus. A short time later the Navy reversed its position and reinstated dive services. Several years later SCUBA diving began to become popular and the partners identified the need for thermal protection. “Henderson” the business and brand was soon formed and named after the Henderson boatyard located in Port Elizabeth, NJ where the original wetsuit factory was located. Early wetsuits were sold primarily to Scuba divers as a “build it yourself” kit. The kit contained a roll of Neoprene, a pattern, and a bottle of neoprene cement. As more divers opted not to construct their own suits Henderson began producing and shipping ready-made suits to its customers.
1970’s
In 1974 a glue pot in the factory caught fire and the Henderson factory burnt to the ground. Everett’s son Allan joined the company shortly after the fire to help rebuild Henderson and recover from the disaster.
Everett Edmund patented the original zip-on wetsuit which became a standard-issue by the US Navy and US Coast Guard.
1980’s
The company which was now under Allan Edmund’s direction expanded its product range and focused on innovation and design. The company was the first to recognize women in diving by creating a full line of suits that offered color and style and soon appeared in the pages of magazines such as Elle and Cosmo. Wetsuits were now viewed for style and fashion and no longer just function.
1990’s
Legendary guitarist Jerry Garcia of “Grateful Dead” fame was an avid Scuba Diver and soon collaborated on a Garcia Signature line of Henderson wetsuits. The Garcia line included a new “Trilaminate” neutral buoyancy material developed by Henderson. During the 1990s Henderson expanded into markets outside the Sport Diving market, producing its first line of surfing wetsuits called “Surf East”. Surf East sponsored such legendary surfers as Baron Knowlton, Todd Holland, and Peter Pan. Henderson also produced the first wetsuit used for the Triathlon competition in 1990. The suits were called Speedsuits and sold under the Triumph brand name. Henderson further expanded its brands to Include “Neo Sport” a value line of thermal protection products.
2000
Henderson greeted the new millennium with continued product innovation. Henderson Introduced Gold Core Technology, (ultra-warm skin -in a wetsuit) Hyperstretch (the first ultra-stretch wetsuit) Microprene (.5mm wetsuits) Insta Dry (the first wetsuit that dried inside and out in minutes) Hyperflex Wetsuits a new surf brand that emerged in early 2002 with a renewed focus on the surf wetsuit market.
2010
Henderson’s continued expansion and innovation continue to propel its brands into the future. Henderson, Hyperflex, and Neo Sport are now part of the Henderson Sport Group. The group of companies remains focused on Thermal protection and innovation and development of neoprene products.
Today
The Henderson Sport Group today is based in Millville, NJ just a few miles from the original Henderson Boatyard where the company was founded. The company brands are distributed worldwide and it remains focused on Style, Performance, and Product innovation.
Great plate, and great service from Maddie. She had us fitted with new webbing an all clip offs in 15min.
So far the bag is great. Good zipper. Holds my fins , bcd , regs ,masks , wetsuit ,computer ,save a dive kit perfectly . There is no extra room. Pack strategically . Complies with size requirements and fits in overhead compartment on planes easily. My equipment in the bag weighed in at 24 lps. Carries as a back pack or as a duffle bag. Comfortable straps. Holds water inside without any water leaking out when you have to load wet equipment in it and travel inside vehicles after diving to return to hotel ect . I cant say about its durability , this is my first trip with it from Florida to Mexico for several dives. I hope it holds up and lasts for several years. I would definitely recommend one if you fly and dive.
Perfect size, easy mounting location, ideal accessory for your recreational bp&w when you need to carry a couple of key items and don’t want to wear a pair of tec shorts. Never knew XDeep made these pockets — thanks to AQUI Water Sports for asking the right questions and offering perceptive solutions.
I need to replace all my bolts with these.
Stiff Enough to get good propulsion while being light enough to not cause leg fatigue.
Positively buoyant
I was skeptical. So I stuffed a paper towel into this bag, crammed the bag into a small pocket and took it to 43 feet while on a 2 hour drive. The paper towel was Absolutely dry at the end. So, I shoved an extra phone AT&T sent me, for no apparent reason, into this bag. The phone worked through this bag as it unlocked with facial recognition.
I beach dive a mile from shore with a DPV and no surface support- Solo. So, basically the Nautilus rescue beacon and my Garmin inReach mini are just there as "two is one and one is none. Not sure what three is. But now I do have three ways for coms due to this damn fine bag.
light & stiff was the reason for my choice. Precise positioning is possible with this fin. Power, the other reason for my choice, is yet to be tested against stronger currency as blades are small. To an instructor, this fin is better than quattro as you can back and helicopter kick better. Requires slightly different kicking as well compared with quattro.
Great dive boots. Cool looking kicks. Regardless of walking on loose rock and gravel gravel beaches , hot pavement, sand , walking on a boat deck they offer great protection and comfort. I like the laces over zippers because i live and dive off sand beaches and i dont have to fight sand in the zippers being stuck
I have been blessed enough to be able to dive any regulator I want.
No regulator breathes better than an Atomic!
It is just a wee bit heavier than the pure titanium but with all the features and offers greater value.
It looks good and is everything I could ever desire in a regulator.
Excellent equipment and excellent service. I highly recommend using Aqui water sports
First underwater bag to work as advertised. Absolutely idea.
A tiny ballpoint drop is all you need pee lense. Great product
I tried the Amazon stringers but they started rusting after 1 dive….thank goodness for returns. AQUI quality definitely superior.
Loved this mask! Was a good fit and the material is very good quality. Highly recommend vs the regular big one that cover almost ur whole face.
